As TECHSAVVY, an Estonia-based education and consultancy organisation and a partner of the Erasmus+ KA210-ADU project “Empowering Elderly Digital Literacy and Engagement Through the Erasmus Journey,” we successfully participated in the 3rd Learning, Teaching and Training Activity (LTT/LTTA), held in Brussels, Belgium.

Hosted by our Belgian project partner, EPSA Psychology Association, the international mobility brought together representatives from TECHSAVVY, the Tokat Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services – Barrier-Free Living, Care and Rehabilitation Centre, the Eskişehir Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, and our other project partners.

Institutional Visits and Good Practice Exchange in Brussels

As part of the programme, our international project team participated in a series of institutional and good practice visits across Brussels.

We had the opportunity to visit the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Brussels, Yunus Emre Institute, Türkiye Maarif Foundation, as well as various nursing homes and elderly care centres.

During these visits and meetings, we exchanged knowledge and experiences on international cooperation, adult education, social participation of older adults, and digital transformation. In particular, our visits to nursing homes and elderly care centres provided valuable opportunities to observe the digital needs of older adults and explore different approaches and good practices implemented in Belgium.

Empowering Older Adults in the Digital World

One of the main objectives of our project is to ensure that older adults are not left behind in a rapidly changing digital world. We aim to support them in using digital technologies in a more confident, safe, independent, and active way in their everyday lives.

The training sessions, project meetings, field visits, and good practice exchanges organised during our 3rd international learning activity once again demonstrated that digital literacy goes far beyond technical skills.

Digital competence can facilitate access to information and essential services, strengthen social connections, reduce the risks of loneliness and social isolation, and support the active participation of older adults in society.

A Shared European Learning Experience

Our mobility in Belgium created a valuable international learning environment by bringing together the knowledge, expertise, and experiences of project partners from Estonia, Türkiye, and Belgium.

Through meetings with different organisations and observations at elderly care centres, our project team gained new perspectives and ideas that will contribute to the educational materials, digital learning resources, and future activities developed within the project.

TECHSAVVY: Working Towards a More Digital and Inclusive Europe

As an Estonia-based education and consultancy organisation, TECHSAVVY continues to contribute to international initiatives focusing on digital transformation, adult education, active ageing, social inclusion, and innovative learning approaches through Erasmus+ and other European cooperation programmes.

Our Erasmus+ journey, which began in Turhal, Türkiye, and continued with activities in Estonia and Finland, reached another important milestone in Belgium. This mobility not only strengthened cooperation among our project partners but also reinforced the European dimension of our shared work.

At TECHSAVVY, we believe that age should never be a barrier to participation in the digital world. We will continue working towards a more accessible, inclusive, and connected Europe where people of all ages can benefit from the opportunities of digital transformation.

As TECHSAVVY, an Estonia-based education and consultancy organisation, we were delighted to host the 2nd Learning, Teaching and Training Activities (LTTA) of the Erasmus+ KA210-ADU project “Empowering Elderly Digital Literacy and Engagement Through the Erasmus Journey,” in which we participate as a project partner.

During the second international learning mobility of the project, activities focused on improving the digital skills of older adults, supporting their safe and active participation in the digital world, promoting active ageing and social inclusion, and exploring innovative practices in adult education. Bringing together project partners from different countries, the programme also created a valuable international learning environment for exchanging experiences and good practices.

An Inspiring Good Practice Visit in Helsinki

As one of the key activities of our 2nd LTTA programme, we visited Pro Lapinlahti Mental Health Association and the historic Lapinlahti (Lapinlahden Lähde) former psychiatric hospital in Helsinki, Finland.

Completed in 1841, Lapinlahti was Finland’s first psychiatric hospital and is one of the oldest psychiatric institutions in Europe. Having played an important role in the history of mental health care, the site has now moved beyond the traditional concept of a closed institution and has been transformed into a vibrant, open community space where mental health, wellbeing, culture, art, social participation, and social entrepreneurship come together.

Lapinlahti’s work to reduce loneliness, prevent social exclusion, support people from different age groups and social backgrounds, and bring together multicultural and multilingual communities provided our project team with highly valuable examples of good practice.

Beyond Digitalisation: Active and Inclusive Ageing

Within our project, we do not consider digital literacy simply as the ability to use technological tools. We believe that digital skills can serve as a powerful means of increasing older adults’ participation in social life, combating loneliness and isolation, facilitating access to information and services, and strengthening their ability to live more independently.

For this reason, the active ageing, social inclusion, community-based learning, and wellbeing practices we observed at Lapinlahti strongly align with the objectives and priorities of our project.

Learning and Cooperation Across Europe with TECHSAVVY

As an Estonia-based education and consultancy organisation, TECHSAVVY continues to contribute to the development of digital transformation, adult education, active ageing, social inclusion, and innovative learning approaches through Erasmus+ projects and international cooperation.

Hosting the 2nd LTTA activities provided an important opportunity not only to advance the project’s objectives and outputs, but also to bring together organisations from different European countries, exchange knowledge and good practices, and strengthen partnerships for future international cooperation.

We will continue to learn together, share our experiences, and work towards a more inclusive Europe where older adults can participate more actively and confidently in both digital and social life.

Our Erasmus+ journey towards a more inclusive digital future for older adults has officially begun in Turhal, Tokat, Türkiye!

As part of the Erasmus+ KA210-ADU project “Empowering Elderly Digital Literacy and Engagement Through the Erasmus Journey,” the first Learning, Teaching and Training Activity (LTTA) was successfully organised in Turhal with a comprehensive five-day programme hosted by the Turhal Barrier-Free Living and Care Centre Directorate.

The project aims to strengthen the digital literacy of older adults, support their active participation in an increasingly digital society, and help them use digital technologies more safely, confidently, and independently in their everyday lives.

A Strong Start with Local Stakeholders

The programme began with an opening meeting that brought together representatives from key local and regional institutions, including Turhal District Governorship, Tokat Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, Turhal Municipality, Provincial Directorate of National Education, as well as representatives from various organisations and institutions.

The opening event provided an important opportunity to introduce the objectives of the project, strengthen cooperation between local and international stakeholders, and highlight the importance of digital inclusion for older generations.

Five Days of Learning, Collaboration and Exchange

Throughout the five-day LTTA programme, project partners worked together on activities designed to promote digital inclusion and active ageing.

The participants planned digital literacy training activities for older adults, focusing on practical skills that can support seniors in their daily lives and enable them to engage with digital technologies more safely and effectively.

One of the highlights of the programme was the collaborative workshop dedicated to developing content for the project’s “Dancing with Technology: An E-Dictionary for Older Adults.” The e-dictionary is designed to make digital terminology and concepts easier to understand and more accessible for senior learners.

The programme also included visits to elderly care institutions and on-site observations of good practices. These visits allowed project partners to better understand the needs of older adults, exchange experiences and explore different approaches to supporting digital inclusion within social care and adult education environments.

Building an Inclusive Digital Future Together

As an Estonia-based education and consultancy organisation, we are proud to contribute our expertise and international experience to this Erasmus+ cooperation.

Together with our project partners, we are working to ensure that older adults are not left behind in the digital transformation. Our goal is not simply to teach people how to use technology, but to empower older generations to participate more actively, independently and confidently in today’s digital society.

The first LTTA in Turhal was more than a training activity. It was an opportunity to exchange knowledge, discover good practices, develop new ideas and, most importantly, build strong connections between organisations and professionals from different European countries.

Turhal marked the first stop of our Erasmus+ journey, and we leave Türkiye inspired, motivated and ready for the next stages of the project.

As part of our commitment to advancing inclusive and sustainable education across Europe, our Project Manager Etibar Mikayilov recently led two impactful seminars in Finland within the framework of an Erasmus+ project. The sessions brought together school leaders, educators, and education experts from various countries to explore best practices in inclusive education and environmental transformation within schools.

The *first seminar, titled *”All Kids Special”, centered around building the capacity of school staff to create inclusive learning environments for children with special educational needs. Participants explored how to design personalized learning programs that accommodate diverse needs, assess student strengths, and implement effective teaching strategies. Emphasis was placed on ensuring accessibility for all learners, adapting the curriculum to individual learning styles, and addressing diversity in terms of language, gender, culture, and learning pace. Educators also examined the importance of fostering positive attitudes among students, using peer teaching methods, and building social interactions that support both academic and emotional development. Through a mix of theoretical insights and practical techniques, the seminar empowered participants to return to their schools with actionable strategies and an inclusive mindset.

The *second seminar, focused on *”Environmental Changes for Sustainable Schools”, offered educators a comprehensive understanding of environmental literacy, sustainability in education, and the application of permaculture principles in school settings. Teachers discussed the causes and consequences of climate change, ecological footprints, and food sovereignty, while learning how to design educational activities and school-wide projects that reflect the values of circular economy and ecological responsibility. Special attention was given to outdoor education, the smart use of urban spaces, and involving students in nature-based learning experiences. The role of teachers as facilitators of environmental consciousness, the integration of families into sustainability education, and the elimination of stereotypes and misconceptions around green practices were also key topics. By the end of the seminar, participants collaboratively designed school-based sustainability projects and created implementation plans to drive environmental change in their own institutions.

These seminars reflect our broader vision of equipping educators with the knowledge and tools they need to make meaningful changes in their schools — both socially and environmentally. We are proud to see our Erasmus+ initiative serve as a platform for professional exchange, innovation, and impactful transformation in education.
